Sorry I've been out of touch, Mamahood readers. Here's why:
1. Modern Bride closed. While this may not be earth-shattering news to most of you (especially since, I would expect, my readers might be past the Modern Bride era of their lives), but this was the magazine where I started my career—and where I spent most of it. It's a blow to my business, certainly, since I've regularly gotten some fantastic projects for them. But the bigger blow is the fact that so many of my friends lost their jobs in one giant swoop. And, of course, that my entire resume is now made up of defunct magazines and websites. I'm like the black widow of the publishing world.
2. I've gotten more work. I've gotten enough work now where I might be forced to subcontract or lose sleep. So far, I've gone for the latter.
3. We discovered what's causing my youngest daughter's eczema. And basically, it's everything she's been coming in contact with on a daily basis: wheat, milk, eggs. Cats and dogs (we have two cats, one dog). Fortunately, the allergist said right away not to get rid of the pets. The food items weren't so lucky. I spent most of Saturday trying to buy new products my daughter can safely eat.
4. Disney. World. We had planned to visit DisneyWorld eventually with my parents. But with the sick deal they're offering right now (buy four days, get three free), we just couldn't pass it up. Which has meant numerous conference calls with my parents to figure out logistics, and countless hours checking out the Disney sites to see what we wanted to book.
5. My house. Seriously, guys...how do you guys keep your clutter under control? Even though I try to throw out as much as possible, we're getting about a tree's worth of paper from my oldest daughter's school every week (global warming is getting its start in our elementary schools), the laundry situation has never been worse, and our house generally looks cluttered constantly. We've even made sure we enlisted our daughters to help clean up—and we still look like slobs. Any ideas?
I promise more posts (and probably more on some of these topics) in a few days. Once I come out from under everything.

I recently came across your blog and have been reading about disney world. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

Hahah, I was going to say pretty much the same thing that Michele did. :D
I'm trying to get rid of clutter as well. We live in a really small place and it doesn't take long for it to look messy. Have you read "It's all too much" by Peter Walsh? Really helped me get the right mindset for decluttering. Still working on it, though!
